DOT HazMat Finger Printing - Live Scan Fingerprinting

The federal government recently required states to change the way they issue endorsements for CDL holders who transport hazardous materials.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will fingerprint and conduct background checks on all CDL holders that are applying for, renewing or transferring a hazardous material (HAZMAT) endorsement.

  • To get a HAZMAT endorsement, you must complete an application from TSA and submit your fingerprints

  • To renew your HAZMAT endorsement, you must be fingerprinted at least 45 days before your license expires

  • Drivers who do not intend to transport hazardous materials do not need this endorsement
  • The USA Patriot Act requires background checks for all commercial drivers who apply for, renew or transfer a HAZMAT endorsement

  • Drivers who surrender an endorsement will not be subject to a background check. TSA developed this plan to protect against the threat posed by terrorists transporting HAZMAT
  • TSA will notify New Jersey of the results of the background checks and New Jersey will either issue or deny a HAZMAT endorsement based on that information

  • A driver must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident to hold a HAZMAT endorsement
  • Those receiving a HAZMAT endorsement in New Jersey must also comply with MVC's 6 Point ID Verification Program

Non DOT Finger Printing - Ink Card Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting is the act of taking impressions of a person's fingerprints to be used for identification purposes. The fingerprints of no two humans are exactly alike. This makes fingerprinting a very accepted method of identifying a human, whether alive or dead.

Ink card fingerprinting is an easy, inexpensive way to obtain your finger prints.

Ink Card Fingerprinting may be required for any of the following reasons:

  • To obtain your criminal history record from another state or another country. Individuals would be required to submit the ink card to the appropriate state agency or country's goverment agency.

  • To obtain a copy of your criminal history record sent directly to you by the FBI. This is particularly helpful for those individuals applying for immigration or adjustment of status.

  • To obtain an out-of-state professional license such as licenses to practice law, nursing and other professions.

  • FINRA / ABA / Federal Employment - Some employers including but not limited to those individuals seeking federal employment and others working in the securities industry regulated by FINRA are required to submit Ink Card fingerprints for background screening prior to being licensed.

Why You May Need Finger-Printing?

The Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) has developed a program called the Hazmat Threat Assesment Program and is now requiring the collection of biographical information and fingerprints from applicants who wish to obtain Hazardous Material Endorsements(HME) on their State issued Commercial Driver's license(CDL).

This requirement became effective on Jan. 31, 2005. Thirty four States in the US adopted this requirement. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are two of them.

Integrated Biometric Technology Co.(IBT) administers this program for TSA in the participating States. Central Jersey Exams is equipped with this technology to record fingerprints through the use of computers that relay the completed results directly to the TSA.

We perform fingerprint services not only for the TSA but also for Federal and State agencies and corporations or organizations that may require them.
